FAQs

Q. What does The Way To Work series provide?

A. The series is split into 6 question and answer booklets that cover the 18 study sessions that make up the CFA® curriculum. They work systematically through the material you need to know for the exam and provide relevant Learning Outcome Statement (LOS) references as an indicator of the learning objectives that each question tests for.

Doing plenty of practice questions is key to passing the CFA Level I exam. They help identify the weaknesses in your preparation and give you experience in the style of questions you are likely to see in the exam itself.

The booklets are designed to be convenient and durable for those candidates who wish to make the most of their valuable revision period, at home, in education or on the move.

Q. What is the pass mark for the CFA Level I exam?

A. The pass mark is not published and changes from year to year. Candidates should aim to score at least 70% which is considered ‘average or above average’ by CFA Institute™.

Q. If I have a question regarding the Q&As, who can I contact?

A. Pegasus has tutors who are CFA charterholders available to answer your questions. Send an e-mail to tutor@pegasuslearning.com and we will try to respond within 48 hours.

Q. When should I start studying for the exam?

A. Most candidates will need to study for approximately 300 hours to pass the exam and should allow 10 to 15 hours per study session plus a final revision period. When you start depends on your other work or study commitments, but January is a reasonable month to start for the June exam and July for the December exam. This will allow you to complete one study session per week and still have a month for final review. Whatever you decide, the main thing is to set out your own study schedule and stick to it. You must be disciplined if you want to give yourself the best chance of passing the exam.

Q. When do I need to register for the exams, when will the results be published, what happens if I want to postpone taking the exam?

A. These questions are best answered by CFA Institute™ itself which is responsible for setting the CFA Level I exam. Their website address is www.cfainstitute.org
